French Bistro Pitcher

It had been a happy, but long day.  We had driven from Paris to Bretagne, trekked to Mont St. Michel and back, and were grateful to stop at a cafe in the square, and order some cider to replug our internal batteries.  Out came two red and white bowls, and a little glass pitcher with a curved glass handle.  It poured the precious cider without losing a drop, and I remember thinking I would love one of these in my own kitchen.

When we found several of these charming pitchers, we snapped them up.  The French use them for water, wine, and cider, at the neighborhood cafes and bistrots, and in their homes. Made of sturdy tempered glass, this pitcher holds about three cups, and will serve up lemonade and milk for the kids, or wine and cider for the adults.  The open curved handle is very thin, but very strong.  This gives the pitcher an elegant look, and makes it easy to hold.  To top it off,  the wide spout means no drips!
